In the History of the Hockey World Cup, only one team has managed to get past the 300- goal mark. Ahead of the start of the Men’s Hockey World Cup. The International Hockey Federation (FIH) on Tuesday shared an interesting tweet about the nations that have scored maximum goals in Hockey World Cup history. The goals scored by the nation have been counted from the year it first started (1971) until the last edition (2018).

As per the stats, the Australian team has scored the maximum number of goals in the history of FIH Men’s World Cups. The Kookaburras have so far scored 305 goals. Germany is next on the list with 267 goals scored so far. They are the only team to have played 100 games at the World Cup.
India’s hockey team is third in the list with 199 goals to their name. By scoring a goal in the opening match against Spain, the Indian hockey team will be able to break 200 goal mark. Spain is fourth on the list with 176 goals to their name. They have scored all the goals in just 94 matches.
The FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup will begin on Friday, the 13th January. The tournament will be contested by 16 teams. India will start as one of the favourites alongside teams like Australia and Germany. Host India has been placed in Pool D comprising England, Spain, and Wales.
India hockey team will begin their campaign against Spain on January 13 at the newly built stadium in Rourkela. The men in blue will then take on England on January 15 at the same venue. Team India’s final match will be against Wales which will be played on January 19 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar
