He added, “The problem this year is that you can have five substitutes. Ronaldo comes from an era that, when you are not playing 90 minutes, it was seen as a negative. Now we are seeing attacking players not playing 90 minutes regularly, maybe 20 or 30 minutes because of the intensity and the demands of the Premier League.”

Ronaldo is not getting any younger as he is already 37 years of age. He has played his last World Cup and his international career could be coming to and end soon well. But the big question remains is whether he will fit into Roberto Martinez’s plan.

Roberto Martinez motivated to do well with Portugal

Martinez during the press conference said that he is really motivated to do well for the team and was looking forward to the project. He said, “Portugal must always have the will to win everything and for that you need to be a modern team, with tactical flexibility.

“Playing with a line of three or four defenders depends on the players, and it will be my job and that of the coaching staff to get the most out of each player. Tactical flexibility is very important. If we are going to play in transitions, we have to be well structured off the ball and show off our talent on the ball. We have to control games.
