Selection headache for Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid
With no Bumrah in the lineup, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid will have tough choice to ake when it comes to playing specialist pacers. While Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be the first picks in pace department, the toss will be between Umran Malik, and Arshdeep Singh. Malik bowled well during the IND vs SL T20I series, while Arshdeep struggled during 2nd T20I but bounced back well during the series decider.

Jasprit Bumrah’s battle with injury
Jasprit Bumrah has been undergoing rehabilitation after breaking down due to an injury in September last year. The pacer suffered the injury during the home series against Australia. The BCCI decided to rule him out for the T20 World Cup in order to avoid a major disaster. When it looked like Bumrah would miss the Sri Lanka series, the all-India selection committee released a statement on January 3rd about the inclusion of the pacer in the squad.
The BCCI in its media release had said, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee has included pacer Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad for the upcoming Mastercard 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining the Team India ODI squad soon,”.
The delay in return now raises question whether Bumrah will recovers in time to compete in the ODI series against New Zealand and later against Australia.
