Shanaka is SL’s leading run-getter against India in India in T20Is
Continuing his good form against the Men in Blue, Shanaka scored 56 off just 22 balls and helped his side to post an over-par score of 206. In 2022, he has stroked 202 runs in 5 matches at an average of 101, strike rate of 187.03 against the Men in Blue.
To note, he is also the leading run-getter for his team against India in India. He has compiled 407 runs in 21 games, striking at 137.95. Shanaka has also equaled the record of former SriLanka skipper Lasith Malinga who led the island nation in 84 games. So far, Shanaka has captained SriLanka in 84 matches. Shanaka edges past Mahela Jayawardene slams fastest fifty in T20Is
Shanaka now has the fastest fifty for Sri Lanka in T20Is, having reached the mark in 20 balls. He broke the record of Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara (21 balls each). Shanaka continues his exploits against India. His last five T20I knocks against them read 47*(19), 74*(38), 33*(18), 45(27), and 56*(22). He has become the first-ever SL batter with over 400 runs against India in T20I cricket.
After the end of 19 overs, both India and SriLanka were poised at 186/6. But it was again Dasun Shanaka that created the difference in the game. He went on to hit Shivam Mavi for 20 runs. And then went on to conceded just 4 runs against Mavi while bowling the last over.
