According to informed personnel in BCCI, other than regulars, Amazon Prime, Fancode, Times Internet, Google, Discovery have picked the Tender Documents.

It is worth noting that the BCCI hasn’t kept a base price for MEDIA RIGHTS Tender. After the MEDIA Rights winner is finalized, BCCI will come out with tender to sell the WIPL Franchises. According to the BCCI, MEDIA RIGHTS value will give potential franchise bidders clear-cut revenue visibility.

“We will be coming with franchise rights tender once Media Rights Tender is completed. We feel that is how the potential bidders can give us REAL VAULE for the franchises”, informed a BCCI offcial.

  • The Media tender was recently floated for the 2023-2027 period.
  • The tender was available for purchase till December 31.
  • More than 10 parties have picked Tender.
  • The bid submission will take place on January 12.
  • The BCCI will follow a closed bidding process to award media rights for Women’s IPL.

BCCI & the women cricketers in India are up for HUGE-WINDFALL in 2023. According to a top BCCI official, ‘the upcoming Women IPL League can generate 1000 Crore plus at Auction for each franchise’. The board official also confirmed to InsideSport that PLAYER salary purse for Women players can be in a range of 40 Crore for each franchise. This means like counterparts, WIPL will make Women Cricketers Millionaires next year.

“It’s a new product but established concept. Just see the response we are getting for INDIA vs Australia series. This clearly shows Women Cricket has huge growth potential. We are sure each franchsie can fetch 1000 Crore plus. Players will be suitably paid and each franchise can have a player purse of 35-40 Crore”, confirmed top BCCI official to InsideSport.

The first week of March is most likely when the WIPL’s debut season will take place, prior to the start of the IPL. There will be five teams. Although it couldn’t be verified, Mumbai, which has three excellent venues, may conceivably host the entire league.
