1. Two different Media Partners for IPL
Till now IPL was broadcasted on only one platform However, in IPL 2023, there will be two separate broadcasters in the 2023-27 cycle for the subcontinent for the first time. In addition, Star India has won the IPL broadcasting rights forINR 23,575 crore from 2023-27, whileViacom18 and Times Internet have won the IPL digital rights for the same period at INR 23,758 crores.
2. How Gujarat Titans do their TITLE Defense?
Debutants Gujarat Titans scripted history as they won the prized IPL trophy in its first attempt. Under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the Titans will be looking to defend their title in the upcoming edition. GT had a decent auction where they made some smart buys. The defending champions successfully purchased Kane Williamson to strengthen their batting line-up.
3. Impact Player Rule
According to the Impact Player rule, a team will have to list four substitutes at the toss, in addition to the playing XI. They can use any one of the four subs as their Impact Player. A captain can bring the Impact Player in before the start of an innings; at the end of an over; and at the fall of a wicket or when a batter retires. However, if the bowling side brings in an Impact Player during an over — at the fall of a wicket or if a batter retires — they will not be allowed to bowl the remaining balls of the over.

Franchises emptied their bank to avail the services of star all-rounders available in the auction. Purchased at a cost of INR 18.50 crore, PBKS will be hoping that their star all-rounder Sam Curran gives his best in the upcoming edition. Apart from Curran, Ben Stokes and Cameron Green also bagged a fat cheque in the auction. While Stokes was purchased by CSK, MI purchased the services of Cameron Green for IPL 2023. England’s Harry Brook was also purchased at a cost of INR 13.25 crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
5. Eyes on Indian Big Guns – Rohit, Dhoni, Virat
CSK skipper MS Dhoni might be playing his last IPL in the upcoming edition. The veteran batter will look to give some match-winning performance before bidding adieu from the game. All eyes will also be on senior batters like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The senior batters were not in their best in the previous edition of IPL.

6. Return of the Home and Away format
Since the outbreak of Covid-19, IPL has been held at only a few venues. In 2020, the league was played behind closed doors across three venues in the UAE — Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. In 2021 too, the tournament was held across four venues — Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai. The four stadiums of Maharashtra hosted all the leagues matches of the IPL 2022 season except the playoffs and final in Kolkata and Ahmedabad respectively. However, with the pandemic under control as of now and the BCCI organising a full-fledged domestic season, the cash-rich league will return to its old format in which each team plays one home and one away match.
7. OLD-GUNS set to Rock IPL 2023
In IPL 2023, several veterans will be making their appearance. Two of them will be leg-spinners Amit Mishra and Piyush Chawla. Mishra is the third-highest leading wicket-taker in the IPL. In 244 T20 matches he played so far in his career, the 40-year-old has picked up 272 wickets at an economy of 7.14. Just like Mishra, Chawla was also bought for his base price of INR 50 lakhs by Mumbai Indians. He has played a total of 165 matches in IPL, in which he has scalped 157 wickets at an average of 27.39 and an economy rate of 7.88 runs per over.
8. Pakistan origin player set to play in IPL
Sikandar Raza was born in the city of Sialkot in Pakistan. At the recently concluded player auction, the Punjab Kings offered him his first IPL contract, so he will play in the upcoming season. The Zimbabwean all-rounder was acquired by Punjab Kings for 50 lakh rupees. In T20 cricket, Raza has played 158 matches and scored 3,109 runs at a strike rate of 129.81. These are his statistics. He has scored 19 T20 50s. At an economy rate of 7.34, Raza has taken 79 wickets in the bowling department. His highest bowling score is 4/8.
