Shane McMahon producing Royal Rumble 2022: The Boss’s son got involved in controversy in the first month of 2022 due to his role as a producer for the Royal Rumble event. Shane McMahon entered the men’s Royal Rumble match as a participant and tried to make the contest revolve around him. As McMahon went out with the idea of having a big moment in the match, he had heated backstage moments with some people who questioned his behavior. The incident which was termed as “chaotic” by multiple reports saw Shane McMahon quietly let go by the company.

Seth Rollins and Riddle segment: Seth Rollins was involved in a feud earlier this year. The former Universal Champion crossed the line in an episode of Monday Night RAW as he brought up Riddle’s personal life issues on camera. Rollins spoke about Riddle not having a family as the latter’s wife divorced him and went away with his kids. The public revelation made Riddle growl in anger and want to smash the visionary.
Sasha Banks and Naomi walkout: Former women’s world champion Sasha Banks and her tag team partner Naomi had infamously walked out of the building during the main event of an episode of Monday Night RAW. The main event was scheduled to feature the two superstars but it was reported that they were not happy with the creative direction of the same. They were reported to have left their Tag Team Championships on John Laurinitis’ table before leaving the building. The act saw the two women getting suspended from the Stamford-based organization.

Mandy Rose released from WWE: Former NXT Champion Mandy Rose was fired from WWE in December as she was posting explicit content on her FanTime page which is a breach of contract with the company. She was made to lose her title match against Roxanne Perez and got released within 24 hours of the same. The WWE universe got divided with their opinions on the situation as the news came to the forefront. It was also claimed by her agent that Mandy Rose has made so much money from her FanTime page since her firing that she would become a millionaire by Christmas.

Vince McMahon Hush Money Charges: The most controversial moment of 2022 came when it was exposed that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon agreed to pay more than $12 million over the past 16 years to suppress allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity. The payout was for four women who signed a contract with the 77-year-old to not discuss their relationships. The contract also prohibited the women for bring up legal claims against their respective relationships with Vince McMahon. During the investigations about the same, Vince stepped down as the CEO of the global juggernaut.
