Despite being in a good form in the limited-over format, Kohli has not been able to score runs in the longest format of the game. It has been ten innings since he scored his last fifty in Tests. This equals his worst such run in the format (ten innings in England in 2014 with a highest of 39). To note, this is the first time that Kohli’s Test average has dropped below 49 since November 2016 & after 53 test matches.
The right-handed batter failed to get going against Bangladesh as well. In four innings in the current series, the senior batter has been able to score just 45 runs averaging 15. Speaking about Kohli’s overall numbers in Test cricket, he has played 104 matches and has amassed a total of 8119 runs. He has 28 fifties, 27 centuries and seven double-hundred to his name.
