IPL 2023 Auction: Despite the Christmas Holidays the CEO of Rajasthan Royals Jake Lush McCrum and RCB analyst Freddie Wilde reached Kochi for the upcoming IPL Auction. The IPL auction for the 16th edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place on December 23 in Kochi, Kerala. Ahead of the marquee event, a total of 87 players were released by various franchises as most of them are eyeing to revamp their squad for the next edition. Before the auction day, the franchises met with the IPL governing council members on December 21. On this day, the franchises will get some clarity on players’ availability. Another set of meetings will be on December 22 (Thursday) with broadcasters to have a mock auction.

RR CEO Jake LushMcCrum and RCB analyst Freddie Wilde have reached the coastal city. The 10-team franchise meet and mock auction will be held on Thursday. The D-DAY is scheduled in Kochi on 23rd December (Friday). BCCI has booked two floors of the Grand Hyatt in Bolgatty island in Kochi for IPL Auction 2023. The mini-auction will be a 7-hour affair with an hour of break in between on December 23.

For the next season, a total of 991 players originally registered for the cash-rich league but only 405 players will go under the hammer. Out of which, a maximum of 87 slots are available to be filled by the 10 franchises. Thus, there’s a lot of tension in the air as all the teams are currently brainstorming to find the best possible combination for the new season.
