IPL 2023 Auction: Senior batters Ajinkya Rahane and Mayank Agarwal gave a perfect audition for the upcoming IPL auction. Playing in the Ranji Trophy, Rahane smashed an unbeaten century for Mumbai. On the other hand, Mayank also stroked a steady fifty with the bat. Ahead of the auction, both Rahane and Mayank were released from their respective IPL teams. Rahane failed to convert his start to a big score in the Ranji opener
Rectifying his mistake from the first game, Rahane hit his 38th first-class hundred on Day 1 of their Ranji Trophy 2022-23 match against Hyderabad. Ajinkya Rahane got to his hundred in just 121 balls. Rahane remained unbeaten on 139 from 190 balls. Thanks to Rahane’s century, Mumbai finished with 457 for 3 at Stumps on Day 1, having scored at more than 5 runs per over.
To note, Rahane also got a decent start in the first Ranji game against Andhra Pradesh. The former Indian skipper scored 44 runs in the first innings before getting out. With Mumbai winning the encounter by nine wickets, Rahane did not get a chance to bat in the second innings.

Agarwal continued his good form with the bat as he completed a steady-paced fifty with the bat. Leading Karnataka against Puducherry, the right-handed batter stroked 51 runs in 91 deliveries. He also stroked five fours and one maximum. Earlier against the Services, Mayank played a good knock of 73 runs in the second innings. The 31-year-old managed to score just eight runs in the first innings against the Services.
To note, Mayank was stripped from the captaincy and was later released from the PBKS squad ahead of the IPL auction. Going to the auction, the Indian batter has set a base price of INR one crore.
