Reports later emerged that the young boy passed away. A spokesman for the Hérault government said: “A young boy was violently hit on Wednesday evening in Montpellier by a car following the semi-final match of the World Cup.

“He was transferred to hospital in an absolute emergency. He died shortly after receiving medical care.”

Following the incident, the concerned vehicle was found abandoned nearby. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.

The entire country of France was engrossed in merrymaking as France defeated Morocco 2-0 to seal their place in the Finals of the FIFA World Cup. Other reports of violence and riots were spotted throughout the country.

Around 10000 police personnel were dispatched throughout the country to prevent and contain riots from breaking in various parts of the country. Further reports indicate that around 100 people were arrested as property, and shops were damaged while cars were set ablaze.

Supporters poured into Paris’s freezing Champs-Elysees boulevard on Wednesday after a World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco which for millions tugged at the heartstrings, as “Les Bleus” won 2-0 to reach the final for a second time in a row.

“We just want to celebrate our win and we can really feel it will get crazy,” said student Kerene Massuka who came with a friend. “I am sad and proud at the same time”, said Thomas Bregas, a young Franco-Moroccan wrapped in a Morocco flag. Fans were flanked by hundreds of police trucks securing the area as they let off fireworks and flares to the sound of honks and cheers.
