Patil served as the chairman of the selectors from 2012 to 2016. He recently contested Mumbai Cricket Association elections. But he lost to Amol Kale. The former cricketer is one of many who has suffered heart issues in recent times.
Former India captain and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had a brief admission in hospital following heart attack last in 2020. He also had an angiograph. Indian captain of 1983 WC Kapil Dev also suffered a heartattack in 2020. Ricky Ponting also had a health scare last week.
Earlier, Patil lost his 1983 WC teammate Yashpal Sharma to heart attack in July 2021.
“Our 1983 team has lost Yash and then Kapil had a heart problem, now it’s me. But not to worry. It’s a 66-year-old machine, needed servicing!” Patil told TOI.
