Cristiano Ronaldo found himself on the bench as head coach Fernando Santos opted to give the nod to young Goncalo Ramos to feature in the quarterfinals after scoring a stunning hattrick in the previous game. Ronaldo was introduced in the second half when he replaced Ruben Neves.
After the final whistle was blown, an inconsolable Ronaldo was spotted profusely. The Superstar headed straight back to the dressing room where he was escorted by an official of the Portuguese FA.
Ronaldo’s impact on the game since his substitution was decent. He laid off a couple of decent deliveries to Joao Felix who failed to convert the chances.

Ronaldo’s poor form in knockouts of the FIFA World Cup continued as he failed to score in all 8 of his knockout approaches. He has gone over 570 minutes in this process where he has taken 27 shots but have failed to find the back of the net.
But it was Morocco who out of the blue, against the general play, came and scored the all-important deciding goal of the game in the 41st minute. A wonderful whipped-in cross from the left flank saw Youssef En-Nesyri rising above Ruben Dias to score a wonderful header.
Giant killers Morocco have been sensational throughout the tournament. They defeated Spain in the pre-quarters in the penalty shootout and overcame all odds to defeat the mighty Portuguese side. The team from Arab-Africa will now face the winner of England vs France in the semifinals.
