IPL 2023 Auction: IPL Auction Video Conference: After rejecting franchises’ request to shift Auction Day, BCCI has allowed video conferencing during the auction. The reason is the Christmas holiday and the absence of foreign staff. Most franchises will be without their foreign coaching staff who will be on holiday. A final call will be taken closer to the auction day at the franchises’ meeting. The Mini-Auction will be held in Kochi on December 23. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Chennai Super Kings CEO confirmed to InsideSport that their entire support staff will be joining via video conference.
“No, Stephen Fleming won’t be joining us for the auction. None of our foreign staff will be present in Kochi due to Christmas Celebrations. They will join by video conference,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told InsideSport.

As Covid-19 pandemic has helped revamp digital infrastructure at every point, video-conferencing isn’t a big deal anymore. While phone call during the auction is allowed, whether there will be a dedicated video-conferencing facility, it is yet to be decided.
“As for video conferencing, we will take a call on that in the franchise meeting before the auction. If all the stakeholders agree, I don’t see any reason not to allow it,” the official said.

No change in auction Date: Despite request from franchises, BCCI won’t change auction date. As reported earlier by InsideSport, multiple franchises had requested BCCI to change the Auction date of December 23rd owing to Christmas. A top BCCI official informed InsideSport that the board won’t accept the request due to ‘logistical issues’.
“We understand some officials of some of the franchises will be on Christmas Holidays. But we are unlikely to change the date. A huge amount of logistics are involved in Auction planning. Changing the date would mean REDRAWING everything’, informed a BCCI official.
