In the caption, Israel Adesanya wrote, “When life gives you waves… Last day, tired from the day and night before. But the chance to be coached by @raimanaworld on surfing is another one of those experiences you don’t say no to. Ended up catching a few waves and learned a lot about reading the ocean, coral reefs, and being patient. Surfing in Tahiti…just living your dream life in my reality. More blessings pon you.”

Despite dominating the first half of his bout against Pereira at UFC 281, Adesanya couldn’t keep up with it till the last. He seemingly injured his ankle and fell prey to Pereira’s top-tier striking. After consuming hard blows, Adesanya was ruled out unfit to continue, turning Alex Pereira into the new UFC middleweight champion.

Following his title loss at UFC 281, Adesanya has been medically suspended and may not return until mid-2023. Adesanya has claimed to rematch Pereira on his return and he looks likely to earn the fight. Having held the UFC middleweight strap since 2019, ‘Izzy’ has been an A-listed champion in the promotion. There’s no way he doesn’t deserve an immediate rematch.
Meanwhile, Alex Pereira is already teasing his first title defense, possibly against Khamzat Chimaev in January or February. Chimaev, however, is also competing at 170 lbs (welterweight). So, a fight between him and Pereira may not happen soon, and Israel Adesanya may get his shot at Pereira over everyone else.
