In their first-ever Test match in Pakistan after 17 years, England ended the Day 1 with 506 on the board for the loss of four wickets. This is the highest-ever score registered by any team in the history of Test cricket on the opening day, breaking a 112 year old record. The previous best opening day score was 494/6 (in 99 overs) registered in the year 1910 by Australia against South Africa.
This Test match also saw another record being created as it was the first time in the history of a Test match that four batters hit centuries on the first day. England openers Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley hit tons while later in the day Ollie Pope and Harry Brook too brought up their hundreds, helping England post the record total on Day 1.

Cricket fraternity soon took to Twitter and reacted to England’s record-breaking feat. Cricket Commentator Harsha Bhogle termed the fat ‘incredible’
Wow, 506 on the first day of a test match! Pitch might be flat, the bowling might be off-colour, whatever the reason, 506 is incredible.

500 in a day. In less than 75 overs.

A total of 506 runs on the opening day of a Test series – in just 75 overs by the way! Coming from a team that was unsure of fielding a fit 11 in the game, England have been fantastic.
But what about Pakistan? Why are they playing home Tests on such barren pitches?#EngvsPak— Vikrant Gupta (@vikrantgupta73) December 1, 2022
England began their new era in Test cricket under coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes during the English summer this year and both the captain and the coach have championed England’s aggressive and high-risk reward style in batting that yielded them rewards at home. The approach has since then been coined ‘Bazball.’
This ‘Bazball’ approach has now scaled new heights as the England batters looked unstoppable at Rawalpindi, leaving Babar Azam and his bowlers clueless.
