Rishabh Pant Form: World Cup 2023 – India wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s flop show continued in Christchurch. He was dismissed for just 10 in 16 balls. With this Rishabh’s horrid time in ODIs continues. However, what Pant said before the start of the 3rd ODI caught everyone’s attention. Pant had hit back at the critics in typical “cheeky” Pant style. This didn’t go down well with the cricket fans who trolled him for Big talks and no showing with the bat. Pant has been struggling for runs on the current New Zealand tour, but believes that he has age on his side and is a good fit for ODIs, at the number 5 position. The 24-year-old reminded the critics about his age, and the role he needs to perform for the team.
“The umbrella has been used a lot on this tour. It has rained only on match days! I would like bat at the top in T20Is, and at No. 4 or 5 in ODIs. Your game plan changes accordingly… I don’t have a bad record in white-ball cricket. I’m just 24 at the time. There is no down time now, with us travelling to Bangladesh directly from here!” Pant said before the start of the match.
Pant’s scores haven’t been great off late. He has registered scores of 15, 125, 0, 56, & 18 are the scores Pant in the last five ODIs. While his ODI numbers are marginally better in T20Is, it is the consistency that he has lacked.
Overall, in 11 ODIs in 2022, the southpaw has scored 213 runs. In between one few big scores, there is always a lean patch and a needless shot that makes experts and fans frustrated. In the first ODI against New Zealand, Pant played an unnecessary pull shot after doing all the hard work to reach 15 runs.

Rain has frustrated the fans, as much as it has the cricketers too. Pant has had limited chances to showcase his talent with the bat. However, he is not worried about the scores, but is focusing more on what is expected out of him from the team management.
