Meanwhile, Khabib’s long-time training partner, Islam Makhachev, is now the UFC lightweight champion after submitting Charles Oliveira at UFC 280. That said, ‘The Eagle’ has pointed out why the next year is going to be harder for them.

Khabib Nurmagomedov posted a picture of himself on Instagram to thank the sponsors for their constant support and wrote, “The team did really well this year. I think next year will be much harder because the guys also rose in the rankings and became Champions, so they will have to compete with the best of the best in the world.”

Islam Makhachev will defend his recently won lightweight belt against Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. 25-1 as a professional, ‘The Great’ Volkanovski is undefeated in the UFC. He now has the chance to become the promotion’s fifth double champion by beating Islam Makhachev in February 2023.

The lightweight division in the UFC is one of the deepest rosters full of elite combatants. To retain the top spot, Islam Makhachev needs to continue improving. Khabib Nurmagomedov is clearly aware of it as he envisions a packed 2033 for himself and his team.
