ENG vs PAK LIVE: The Test series will be the first red-ball encounter between the two teams in Pakistan since 2005. England played a seven-match T20I series there in the months of September and October, prior to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The Test series is a part of the ongoing World Test Championship, and Pakistan are still in the running to qualify for the Oval final of the following year.
The terrible Ashes series England played in Australia at the close of last year and their dismal series against the West Indies in March have eliminated them from contention for a position in the final. They have too much to make up to stay in the running. They have now regained some of their finest forms, and series victories against South Africa and New Zealand at home have helped them usher in a new era under Kiwi coach Brendon McCullum.
