Maguire was tested for a concussion and then subbed off. Till the time he was on the pitch, England was comfortably winning against Iran with a scoreline of 4-1. The defender was treated for a couple of minutes before leaving the pitch. Maguire though dazed continued chatting with the team physios.

Concussion was the apparent concern as the decision was taken to remove him from the fray, and he was replaced by Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier as manager Gareth Southgate made multiple substitutions.
“He has done what Harry Maguire does for England, causing problems in the opposition box,” said Rio Ferdinand.
“He looks so at home in an England shirt. He has been tremendous today like all of the other players, controlling and dictating things at the back and being an absolute threat in the opposing box.
