IND vs NZ Live – Kane Williamson IPL 2023: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) did the unthinkable by snubbing captain Kane Williamson ahead of the IPL mini-auction. IND vs NZ Live: Why Kane Williamson was snubbed by SRH?

  • As the captain of the side, Williamson failed to get the team going in crunch situations.
  • The former SRH captain failed to justify the hefty price tag of 14 crores and scored only 216 runs in 13 innings at a dismal strike rate of 93.50.
  • Williamson’s poor run with bat coincided with SRH as the team finished last on the points table.
  • The New Zealand captain had one bad season, but the fact that he took over from David Warner mid-way in IPL 2021 and binded the team was quickly forgotten by SRH management.
  • The former SRH captain also could not get going in T20 World Cup 2022. He scored only fifty against Ireland and struck his runs at a strike rate of 130.
  • That was the last nail in the coffin, and SRH thought to look beyond Williamson, who has been a loyal servant with the team for eight years.
  • The decision hasn’t gone too well with the New Zealand captain, and he is eager to get back to run-scoring ways against India.

IND vs NZ: What has gone wrong with Williamson, the once bankable player of New Zealand ad SRH

After returning from elbow surgery in April 2022, run-scoring has deserted Williamson. In T20Is in 2022, the right-hand batter scored 382 runs in 12 matches. The New Zealand captain is scoring runs at a dismal-looing strike rate of 130 batting in at number three. Scoring runs at a higher strike rate of mid-140s is what Williamson would be aiming against India.
