Australia all-rounder Sean Abbott has been named as his replacement for the three-match ODI series series, starting from November 17. The accident could further see him miss the rest of the summer. The incident took place at a 50th birthday celebration in Melbourne after he and a person celebrating the milestone were running in the backyard. Maxwell and his friend slipped and fell when the cricketer’s leg got trapped and caused the havoc situation.

Glenn Maxwell injury: How is the all-rounder recovering now? Maxwell, 34, underwent a surgery after the incident. He is due to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation after fracturing his left fibula on Saturday. As per, Australia selection chief George Bailey, the all-rounder is in good spirits after the accident.
“Glenn is in good spirits. It was an unfortunate accident and we feel for Glenn in the circumstances given he was in great touch in his last few games,” Australia’s selection chief George Bailey said.
“Glenn is a critical part of our white ball structure and we will continue to support him through his recovery and rehabilitation.”
It will, however, be a major blow for Australia in the upcoming ODI series.
