PAK vs ENG LIVE: 4 Dream match-ups to watch out for in ICC T20 World CUP final on Sunday, CHECK OUT
Babar Azam vs Adil Rashid
Rashid has dismissed Babar three times, and in the 61 balls Rashid has faced, Babar has hit 77 runs at a consistent strike rate of 126.22. In their previous encounters, he struggled to pick Rashid’s googly, as two of his three dismissals against him—one in Manchester last year and the other in Karachi in September—came from googly balls. Babar has played it safe this year against leg spin, scoring at a strike rate of 113.69 against them in T20Is.
Harris Rauf vs Liam Livingstone
Livingstone has played in each of England’s matches from the last two T20 World Cups, but he has only faced 72 balls, showing how challenging it can be for middle-order batters to stand out in such a brief competition. Pakistan is his favorite opponent, though, since he earned his lone international century against them in July 2021. He also enjoys playing against Rauf’s pace; in all T20 matches, he has faced 19 of his balls and scored 51 runs, including five sixes.
Shaheen Shah Afridi vs Jos Buttler
Shaheen Afridi, one of the top-tier Pakistani fast bowlers, will try to take advantage of the MCG’s bounce and dismiss England captain Jos Buttler during the powerplay. The challenge, though, might prove difficult as power hitter Buttler will want to discombobulate Afridi from the start with his fearless purpose. If the Pakistani fast bowler fails to remove him early, his ability to play the waiting game and swat the oddball to the fence can also prove to be exasperating.
Moeen Ali vs Shan Masood
Pakistani batsman Shan Masood may put England off-spinner Moeen Ali to the test at the MCG. In the early games, when Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s opening pair, struggled, he maintained the fort. To make matters worse, Ali has a very poor track record in the shortest format versus southpaws. In 14 games, he has only taken three wickets, and in T20s, he has given up 140 runs at an average of 46.66. The odds will favor the Pakistani batter until the Englishman conjures a magic trick if Ali and Masood do square off in the final.
