IND vs ENG LIVE: T20 WC Semifinals LIVE: England batter Dawid Malan has been ruled out for the 2nd semi-final against India at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. The former World No.1 T20 batter pulled his groin in England’s last Super 12 Group 1 match against Sri Lanka and is unlikely to recover in time for the semi-final. He will be replaced by Phil Salt in the playing XI at Adelaide Oval. Follow India vs England LIVE Updates & ICC T20 World Cup 2022 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Salt will come at No 3 for his first game of the tournament in front of a packed crowd full of India supporters.
Malan, 35, had to hobble off the field after pulling off the injury. His England compatriot and all-rounder Moeen Ali confirmed that the left-hander was not looking in good shape ahead of the big clash.
“He has been one of our best players for a number of years. I don’t know but to be honest with you it is not looking great. He went for scans yesterday and when he arrived, we don’t really know much but it is not looking great,” Moeen Ali told BBC.
Malan has a fine strike rate of over 135 in the shortest format. However, due to the injury, England will miss the services of a power-hitter in the top-order. The left-handed batter had notched up scores of 18, 35, 3* in the previous three appearances at the T20 World Cup 2022.
