The petition involved permanently restraining the then Inspector General of Police, G Sampath Kumar after the latter was accused of making comments on match-fixing issues. Though the case has been listed, the hearing hasn’t taken place yet.
Back in 2014, an order was passed by the court that restricted the IPS officer from making any comments about the former Indian skipper. It has also been learned that Dhoni wished that the Police officer paid a price of Rs 100 Crore for the damage that his accusations and statements have done.

In spite of being restrained by the court not to make any statements about the matter, Sampath Kumar took matters to Supreme Court where he filed an affidavit against the courts and the counsel representing the state.
“He has stated that the Supreme Court deviated its focus on the rule of law and shelved the deposition of the Justice Mudgal Committee (constituted to probe 2013 match-fixing allegations) and kept it in a sealed cover for reasons he failed to comprehend,” said Dhoni.
With Sampath Kumar failing to abide by the orders directed by the court, former India skipper MS Dhoni decided to charge Kumar with criminal contempt of court.
