Haddin will be the fielding and assisting coach, and Langeveldt, a South African who has participated in six tests, 72 ODIs, and nine T20 Internationals, will be the bowling coach.
In 2009, the Kolkata Knight Riders came calling with an IPL contract for Langeveldt. But, rather strangely, he was benched till their final match where he performed creditably. He scalped a wicket on his first ball in the IPL. The SA bowler removed Rob Quinney of Rajasthan Royals on the first ball.
In the IPL 2020, the renowned former South African fast-bowler Charl Langeveldt joined PBKS’ support staff for the first time as the bowling coach. He was credited for nurturing young Arshdeep Singh in his wee cricketing years in IPL.
The 47-year old is currently working with South Africa in a similar capacity and rejoins Punjab Kings for the 2023 season.
Anil Kumble had previously been fired as the team’s head coach, and Jonty Rhodes had also been removed. Only franchise physio Andrew Leipus has made it through the revamp.
Shikhar Dhawan to lead Punjab Kings in IPL 2023
Mayank Agarwal has been replaced as the captain of the Punjab Kings by Shikhar Dhawan.
Dhawan in recent times has also led the Indian team in several ODI and T20I series. Dhawan last captained India against South Africa in a three-match One-Day International series. Dhawan, who has more experience as a captain than Mayank, would be a wise choice for Punjab.

There has been a lot of talk in IPL circles about Shahrukh Khan perhaps being let go in addition to Mayank Agarwal, who had a poor season last year. For the record, Shahrukh Khan, a 27-year-old batter for Tamil Nadu, managed just 117 runs over the course of eight games. In the IPL 2022 auction, he was purchased for Rs 9 crore.
