How SRH performed under Williamson’s captaincy? – Kane Williamson was named as SRH skipper after team management decided to strip David Warner from the captaincy post in IPL 2021. The Orange Army would have wanted Williamson to have a successful outing as a captain during IPL 2022. However, SRH performed rather poorly as they lost seven out of 13 games under the senior batter’s captaincy.
He was also not available for the final group stage match of his team as he went back to New Zealand due to the impending birth of his second child. In Williamson’s absence, senior Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the Orange Army, but the results remained the same as they lost their last group-stage encounter against PBKS.
What are SRH options? – The Orange Army have several options available to replace Williamson. The number priority can West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran, but the Men in Maroon have performed miserably under his captaincy after they got knocked out of the T20 World Cup right after the first-round matches.
The likes of Aiden Markram and Bhuvneshwar Kumar can also be good options for the former IPL champions. As mentioned above, Bhuvi has already led SRH previously and he has been their one of the vital performers over the year. The senior batter from South Africa, Aiden Markram can also be a good option to replace Williamson.

Talking about KKR, the team management decided to name Shreyas Iyer as their new captain for the IPL 2022. The right-handed batter was KKR’s most expensive buy at the IPL 2022 auction – for INR 12.25 crore – and became their highest-paid player by overtaking Andre Russell’s salary of INR 12 crore.
However, things did not go the way KKR had planned. Under Iyer’s captaincy, the two-time IPL champions finished on the seventh spot after losing eight out of their total 14 matches. Iyer batted decently in the tournament as he scored 401 runs in 14 games at an average of 30.84, but his captaincy was scrutinized a lot of times.
Just like SRH, the Men in Purple also have a few options available, especially Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins or their veteran all-rounders including Andre Russell or Sunil Narine. It remains to be seen if the two-time IPL champions will name a new captain or stick with Iyer for the upcoming season.
