“We were a little poor on the field, we gave so many chances in the field and we weren’t clinical. We were just not good enough. The last two games, we were pretty good in the field. We couldn’t hold our chances, we missed a few run-outs. We need to keep our heads high and take a learning from this game,” Rohit Sharma said at the post-match interview.

Chasing a tricky target of 134 runs in Perth, South Africa were reduced to 24/3, inside the powerplay. But half-centuries from Aiden Markram (52) and David Miller (59 not out) guided South Africa to the finish line with two balls to spare.
Markram had a lucky escape in the 12th over of the match as former India captain Virat Kohli put down a sitter off premier spinner Ravichandran Ashwin which turned out to be costly for Team India.

What did Rohit Sharma say about the pitch? – Sharma admitted that the pitch behaved as per the expectations of the team but a top-order collapse saw them falling short of a defendable target.
“We expected that the pitch will have something in it. We knew that there’ll be a lot of help for the seamers, that’s why it wasn’t an easy target to chase. We fell a little short with the bat. We fought well, but South Africa were better today. When you see that score, you’ll always think you’re in the game. That was a match-winning partnership from Markram and Miller,” he said.
