WWE News: Shawn Michaels details scrapped match plans with WWE Hall of Famer
Despite competing with several WWE Legends, the former World Champion never faced Eddie Guerrero in his wrestling career. Recently. Shawn Michaels commented on a pitched match between himself and Eddie Guerrero.
While speaking on the post-NXT Halloween Havoc conference call, he said, “I’ve heard somebody pitched it at a creative meeting. It would’ve been a blast to do. Where we were at later on in our careers, we probably would’ve argued about who was putting who over. Neither one of us would’ve had a problem, that’s for sure. It would be my honor to put Eddie Guerrero over.”
Although both men didn’t work with each other, there were plans made for both men to collide at WrestleMania 22. However, due to the Latino Heat’s sad demise, Michaels fought with Mr. McMahon in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 22.
WWE Executive Director Bruce Prichard also mentioned Michaels vs Guerrero being pitched for WrestleMania 22. During an edition of his Something To Wrestle With podcast, he revealed about it.
“It was kicked around as a possibility because they had never worked together, and that was, at least in my head, a dream match. That was one of those that I definitely would have loved to see.” [H/T Wrestling Inc]
Eddie Guerrero won several championships in his WWE run. Many WWE Legends recognized the 38-year-old as one of the greatest in-ring performers. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair rated the Latino Heat in his all-time top 10 opponents.
