The humongous boot has been built by a private firm named IMAX Gold Rice Products under the supervision of curator M Dileep. It spans over a length of 17 feet and measures 6 feet in height and it might set a Guinness World Record.
It is currently being exhibited in Kozhikode, Kerala and will be sent to Qatar in a container ship from Kochi. An NGO, Focus International, will put the massive boot on display at different locations in the FIFA-host country.

Speaking at the event, the chief operating officer of the NGO said: “This is the best and most memorable gift to Qatar from India. M Dileep is a Guinness World Record holder in different areas and is the curator of this prestigious boot.” Many Indian citizens reside in Qatar and this is certainly a warm gesture from India.

Qatar will certainly appreciate this gesture from India amidst protests across the world against the country’s hosting rights. Qatar’s treatment of migrant labourers has been a global issue in the recent past and there have been calls for boycotting the Qatar World Cup from various corners of the world.
It is estimated that close to 30,000 migrant labourers have been used for several projects including building seven stadiums for the tournament in Qatar, as well as a new airport, new metro, and new roads.

According to shocking reports which came out last year, more than 6,500 migrant workers from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have died in Qatar since it won the right to host the World Cup 10 years ago. This is certainly a welcome break for Qatar amidst all the controversy.
