India vs Pakistan Cricket: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are currently at odds. The animosity between both boards rose after BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who also serves as the president of the Asian Cricket Council, declared that India wouldn’t be going to Pakistan for the men’s Asia Cup, next year. The newly-appointed BCCI President Roger Binny has now reiterated the comments made by Shah. The BCCI relies on the government to make such choices, hence it cannot decide on its own whether the Indian squad will travel to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup or not. This was stated on Thursday by Roger Binny. Follow IND vs PAK live updates with InsideSport.IN

BCCI president was speaking at an event hosted by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in Bengaluru. At the event, Binny cleared that although the BCCI has not yet contacted the government about visiting Pakistan next year, the central government will ultimately make the decision.
“That is not BCCI’s call. We need government’s clearance to leave the country. Whether we leave the country or teams coming into the country, we need clearance.”
“Once we get clearance from the government then we go with it. We can’t make decision on our own. We have to rely on the government. We have not approached them yet,” said World Cup winner Binny as quoted by PTI.
Prior to the ODI World Cup in India, the Asia Cup is slated to be played in Pakistan in September of the following year.
India vs Pakistan Cricket: New BCCI President Roger Binny clears OFFICIAL STAND after Jay Shah’s remarks on Asia Cup tour, says ‘Not our call, have to rely on government’s advice’
Binny made these remarks after BCCI secretary Jay Shah declared that the Indian squad would prefer to play the Asia Cup at a neutral venue rather than fly to Pakistan the next year.
Anurag Thakur, the sports minister, had earlier on Thursday stated that the Indian team will require permission from the Home Ministry before visiting Pakistan.
On Wednesday, a “disappointed” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked the Asian Cricket Council to call an urgent meeting. The PCB had made reference to Shah’s remark and stated that “such statements can split the Asian and international cricket communities” and can have an impact on Pakistan’s tour to India for the 2023 World Cup.
India haven’t travelled to Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup. Political tensions prevent both sides from meeting outside of continental (Asia Cup) and international (ICC) competitions.
The two teams last faced each other in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 contest. India and Pakistan will square off once more on Sunday this week in the Group 2 match of the T20 World Cup in Melbourne.
