Ronaldo took to Instagram to issue an apology after he was Suspended by Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag.

“As I’ve always done throughout my career, I try to live and play respectfully towards my colleagues, my adversaries and my coaches. That hasn’t changed. I haven’t changed. I’m the same person and the same professional that I’ve been for the last 20 years playing elite football, and respect has always played a very important role in my decision making process.

I started very young, the older and most experienced players examples were always very important to me. Therefore, later on, I’ve always tried to set the example myself for the youngsters that grew in all the teams that I’ve represented. Unfortunately that’s not always possible and sometimes the heat of the moment get’s the best of us.

Right now, I just feel that I have to keep working hard in Carrington, support my teammates and be ready for everything in any given game. Giving in to the pressure is not an option. It never was. This is Manchester United, and united we must stand. Soon we’ll be together again. 💪🏽🙏🏽” wrote Ronaldo on Instagram.

On Wednesday, Manchester United cruised past Tottenham Hotspur with a 2-0 victory. However, Cristiano Ronaldo was visibly angry when the Dutch coach didn’t introduce him.

The player left the field even before the full-time whistle. Ten Hag, however, didn’t seem bothered with the antics of the 37-year-old. He simply refused to take the spotlight off the win. The Manchester United talisman was an unused substitute in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday.

Will Manchester United release Ronaldo in January window? – The new coach Erik Ten Hag has been picky with introducing Ronaldo to the starting XI. The worsening relationship between Ronaldo and Ten Hag may inspire Cristiano’s exit as soon as this upcoming January transfer window.

The playing minutes of Cristiano Ronaldo have significantly been cut off this season under Ten Hag. The man who scored the most goals for United last season has been secondary in the pecking order. Anthony Martial and Rashford have been getting consistent starts ahead of the five times Ballon D’or winner. The Portuguese only found the net twice this season after playing a combined 340 minutes.

The recent run of Manchester United clearly shows the 37-year-old is no more an integral part of the club. The Dutch coach is maybe happy to part ways with a troublemaking Cristiano in the upcoming transfer window. As the current situation stands, it is unlikely that the player would feature against Chelsea in the Weekend clash. Ronaldo’s current contract bounds him to be at Old Trafford until June. Still, the gradually declining relationship with the coach may open a path for an early winter transfer exit.

Ronaldo was on the brink of leaving the club last summer due to the Champions League snub. His stay in Old Trafford was out of desperation due to a lack of interest from top European clubs. Meanwhile, the Manchester club is inching closer to a Champions League spot without much help from the Portuguese Forward this season. The player has only been getting consistent time in Europa League.
