Babar spent long 45 minutes facing short-pitch deliveries with Pak bowlers instructed to bowl bouncers and shorter lengths. Indian bowlers have made a potent weapon of short deliveries and Pakistan batters are well aware of that. India troubled Australian and South African batters with such deliveries in the recent series. Apart from India’s regular pace attack, Hardik Pandya too has resorted to such a technique.

Babar Azam’s short-pitch practice: Babar Azam has struggled against short-pitch deliveries of late. It was clearly evident in the Asia Cup. Against England too, he did struggle. With Mohammad Shami possessing the short-ball weapon besides Hardik Pandya, Babar Azam wants to get the homework done.
The other reason is that Pakistan played in New Zealand with a different range of bounce. In Australia, it will be different again. Hence to get adjusted to the bounce, Pakistan had their short-pitch practice on Tuesday.
Pakistan watched India’s match against Australia on Monday from the stands. With Mohammad Shami bowling just 1 over but delivering 3 brilliant yorkers, Pakistan know he is ready to come back. Hence, Pakistan do not want to be underprepared.
