The 29 year old is expected to sit out the clashes against Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur and make his comeback against Chelsea in the end of the month. Harry Maguire has not been the brightest in the center back position which is conveyed clearly by Erik Ten Hag’s picking Order. The captain had featured the starting line up only five times this season. He has practically been benched since the 4-0 loss against Brentford.

Raphael Varane has become the go to center back for Erik Ten Hag since. The captain has often been made a scapegoat of Manchester United’s defensive errors even by the fans.

However, the English Coach Garry Southgate remains loyal to Maguire. The 3-3 draw against Germany had again raised questions about Harry Maguire’s defending capabilities. His defensive errors had led to a 2-0 deficit in the second half.

Southgate was quick to dismiss any negativity centering Maguire’s recent form. He made it clear that he is happy to stick with the experienced players who knows the nooks and crannies of the National team.

Garry Southgate is already at a dicey situation regarding the numerous injuries in defense. The likes of Trent Alexander Arnold and Reece James, John Stones are all in doubt for the World Cup squad due to injuries.

Kyle Walker, another trusted man of Southgate, may be back after a groin surgery but his fitness is still to be confirmed. At this situation, the gaffer is expected to stick with an experienced Maguire in the team.
