India T20 WC Squad: Deepak Chahar Injury – In bad news for team India, pacer Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to back injury. India T20 WC Squad: Siraj and Thakur set to flay Down Under, Mohammad Shami front runner to replace Bumrah
Chahar was one of India’s four reserve players along with Ravi Bishnoi, Deepak Hooda, and Shreyas Iyer. Now, Thakur and Siraj will board the plane Down Under and be the reserve players. Both players performed exceptionally well in the ODI series against South Africa. Siraj was the player of the series as he picked up five wickets, while Thakur scalped three wickets. Apart from the two players, Mohammad Shami is the front-runner to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the T20 World Cup squad. Shami cleared the fitness test and is the front runner to be named as Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement.
“Shami is fit and fine to go. He had a few good sessions. What he lacks is match practice and we have to bank on the two warm-up games to get him at 100%. It’s a big challenge but he is an experienced bowler and knows what is needed. Deepak is still not fit. So, we can’t take a call on his inclusion yet. The physios will decide in a day or two,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.
