FIFA World Cup: Global Survey PORTRAYS huge demands for COMPENSATION of Migrant workers – Check outIn 2021, the football world was outraged by the humongous amount of human lives that were lost due to the Qatar World Cup project. 6500 migrant workers from neighboring countries like India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan were reported dead by the Qatari embassies. The Qatari government had officially denied the numbers.
They countered that some of these deaths were not related to FIFA World Cup projects. However, the numbers, even if watered down, are huge compared to only three work-related deaths that happened during the Brazil and Russia World Cups.

#PayUpFIFA campaign was launched by a human rights organization back in May. The findings of this new global survey show that an overwhelming number of adults from first-world countries support this campaign. The coalition of human rights organizations demands FIFA to pay 440 million dollars, the exact amount that FIFA hands out as prize money during the tournament. FIFA is yet to make an official statement about the compensation of the migrant workers who lost their lives during the world cup project.
