The first match on Sunday in the Pro Kabaddi Season 9 will feature Jaipur Pink Panthers crossing swords with Patna Pirates. The Season 1 champions look like a solid squad on paper and will be hoping that they can fulfill their potential on the mat.

Jaipur lost their first match of PKL 2022 against UP Yoddhas on Friday. U.P. Yoddhas and Jaipur Pink Panthers played out a roller coaster of a contest in Bengaluru. Both sides kept picking up points and were neck and neck throughout the match but the Yoddhas held their nerve in the end to defeat the Panthers 34-32. Now the team in the team will be looking to bounce back against Patna.

With raiders like Rahul Chaudhari, Arjun Deshwal and V Ajith Kumar in the team, the Panthers have ensured that they have multiple choices in attack. Arjun Deshwal was the second-highest raid points (267) scorer last season and will be the team’s primary raider with the support of Rahul Chaudhari and V Ajith Kumar as secondary raiders. In defence, Jaipur Pink Panthers have the experienced Sunil Kumar and Sahul Kumar, who impressed with his tackling for the Season 1 champions in the last campaign. Furthermore, new additions like Lucky Sharma and Nitin Chandel will also hope to help out defensively.

Three-time champions Patna Pirates will play their second Pro Kabaddi Season 9 game against Jaipur. They will be banking on their lead raider Sachin to spearhead their attack and continue his strong form last season which saw him amass 172 raid points, making him the pick of the raiders for Patna Pirates. He will be supported by the experienced Sukesh Hegde, who has scored 471 raid points overall in vivo Pro Kabaddi. In defence, Patna Pirates’ skipper, Neeraj Kumar will be in-charge of marshaling his troops.

Neeraj Kumar scored 53 tackle points last season and was a major reason behind them boasting a tight defence. He along with Sunil, who notched up 49 tackle points last season, will shoulder the bulk of the defensive responsibility for the team. Furthermore, all-rounders like Rohit Gulia and Sajin C will add balance to the team since they can contribute in both attack and defence.
