Cristiano Ronaldo Exit – Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag prepared to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave in January transfer window

The 37-year-old striker has made only two starts this season, including a 4-0 thrashing to Brentford this season. Ronaldo was aiming for a move away from the club, after securing a Europa League finish last season, but failed to secure a move to any Champions League club.

This season he has made five substitute appearances for the sum total of 207 minutes, scoring a single goal against Sheriff FC in the Europa League group stage. Now, The Daily Telegraph has reported that Ronaldo is eyeing a move away from the club and could get his wish at the turn of the year.

Cristiano Ronaldo Exit – The Portuguese star’s slump this season

ten Hag did not use the Portuguese legend during the 6-3 thrashing in the Manchester derby with an interesting explanation. He said he didn’t use Ronaldo at the Etihad Stadium ‘out of respect for Cristiano, for his big career’. Earlier, in the summer, the Dutchman insisted that Ronaldo is firmly in his plans, but after two months into the season, it hasn’t looked that way. The news is disappointing considering his fine form last season notching up 18 Premier League goals in his first season back to the club.

However, United legend Roy Keane was disappointed with the treatment of the superstar admitting that a player of his stature could have made a difference to the side. He said, “I think the manager is holding on to him – okay, you say you need options, but you don’t hold on to Ronaldo to sit on the bench. He’s one of the greatest players ever. He had options – this idea that he’d no options is rubbish, he did have options, four or five very good options.”

With United struggling to find consistency once again with the huge loss, will Ronaldo be back in the line-up or will the exodus result in him leaving the club for the second time in his glorious career?
