KL Rahul once again invited scrutiny over his strike rate in the first T20I at Thiruvananthapuram. While batting on a difficult surface, Rahul scored a 56-ball 50 to see his team over the line.
The Indian Vice-captain’s 56 ball fifty is the slowest among batsmen from test playing nations. The 30-year-old was batting at a strike rate of less than 50 at one point while Suryakumar Yadav toyed with the bowlers on the other end.

With the likes of Rishabh Pant on the bench and Virat Kohli also presenting an option, Rahul will have to ramp his scoring rate heading into the T20 World Cup.
However on the positive side of things for India, Rahul got some much needed match practice in the middle. India will hope that their vice captain can build on his performance and pull through a string of match winning contributions in World Cup.
