The Board of Control for Cricket in India intimated the state associations on Saturday on the elections. The election will take place on October 18, the same day as BCCI AGM. The BCCI’s Electoral Officer has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming BCCI elections. In what could be a frenetic few weeks, the state associations were informed and asked to nominate their members on Saturday. The nominations will be officially filed on October 11 and 12. The Election will take place in Mumbai on October 18, the same day as BCCI AGM. The results will also be announced on the same day.

A host of top positions are up for grabs with the futures of the likes of Sourav Ganguly, and Jay Shah hanging in the balance. 5 Office Bearers are to be sworn in – President, Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer. The Election will also see one member elected into the Apex Council, with a further two additions to the Members of Governing Council.

As per Cricbuzz, former Chief Election Commissioner of India, AK Joti will preside over as Electoral Officer for the BCCI Election

  • Call for Members to File Applications to Nominate their Representative: September 24
  • Deadline for Members to File Applications to Nominate their Representative: October 4
  • Release of Draft Electoral Roll: October 5
  • Submission of Objections to Names in the Draft Electoral Roll: October 6 & 7
  • Examination of Objections and Decisions; Release of Final Electoral Roll: October 10
  • Window to File Nomination Application (to Be filed in person): October 11 & 12
  • Scrutiny of Nomination Applications: October 13
  • Announcement of List of Validly Nominated Candidates: October 13
  • Withdrawal of Nominations (in person): October 14
  • Announcement of List of Contesting Candidates: October 15
  • BCCI Election: October 18
  • Declaration of Results: October 18

As reported by InsideSport earlier, Jay Shah is all but certain to win the election for President. That will oust the current President and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, marking an end to his tenure. Treasurer Arun Dhumal is expected to be the next secretary.

As for Ganguly, BCCI will discuss his position during the AGM before going ahead with the elections. Brijesh Patel is expected to be BCCI’s representative to the ICC while Anirudh Chaudhary is touted to be the next treasurer. Rajeev Shukla is likely to reclaim the IPL Chairman role.
