The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Friday revealed their plans of organising a screening of the last international match of beloved Bengali speedster Jhulan Goswami. On Saturday, the Indian team will make an effort to give Jhulan a memorable farewell by claiming a historic ODI series clean sweep on English soil.

Jhulan Goswami farewell: Details of screening by CAB

Place – Inox Forum, Elgin road, Kolkata

Date – September 24, Saturday

Time – 2:30 pm onwards

Back in 1999, when Goswami hadn’t even made her international debut, India’s women last defeated England in an ODI series. So, the renowned “Jhulu Di” of the Indian team will know that she is a pleased soul as she plays in her 204th and final game. India currently have a 2-0 lead against the home side and will go for a series clean sweep on Saturday.

Perhaps an ICC trophy would have looked lovely (she had two chances at that in 2005 and 2017 when India competed in the final), but sometimes certain things are not meant to be.

She might recall a lot of things as she makes her bowling mark for the final time and climbs the Lord’s slope to add to his 353 international wickets (across formats). But one thing that will always be with her that she is retiring as a legend of the game.
