In the first ODI it was a clinical performance from the Indian Team after winning the toss and asking England to bat first. India’s Spearhead Jhulan Goswami set the platform pretty well giving nothing away to the English batters early on.

She completed her quota of ten overs conceding just 20 runs and also accounting for one top-order wicket. Thereafter, it was the Spinners that took charge of the ship. 5 out of the 7 wickets to fall went to the spinners. Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with 2 scalps for just 33 runs.

England batters just managed to put up 227 runs on the board which was below par on this wicket. In response, Smriti Mandhana came out all guns blazing. A 96-run stand with Yastika Bhatia put India in the driver’s seat. Mandhana was the top scorer amassing 91 at a strike rate of 92. Later on, an unbeaten 74 from the Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur took India home with almost six overs to spare.

Now, in the second ODI of the three-match series, England invited India to bat first. After a good start, Smriti failed to make the mark in the game as she was dismissed by Sophie Ecclestone on 40 runs off 51-ball.
