Meanwhile, Naveen Malik defeated Syrbaz Talgat in the 70kg repechage to qualify for the bronze medal tie. However he couldn’t go on to win the medal as he lost the Bronze medal contest. Vicky Hooda lost to Radoslaw Marcinkiewicz in the qualification match.

In the 74kg category, Sagar Jaglan won on technical superiority against Israel’s Mitchell Louis Finesilver 15-4. Jaglan was trailing 1-4 initially but he soon grabbed the legs of his opponent and rolled him over multiple times to clinch an easy victory in the end. Jaglan however lost in the quarterfinals to USA’s Kyle Douglas Dake 0-5. But the American made his way into the final, which has opened up another opportunity for the Indian to fight in the repechage and aim for the bronze medal. He will play his repechage on Saturday.
