Sri Lanka supporters took to the streets late on Sunday to celebrate their team’s come-from-behind win in the Asia Cup 2022. Fans gathered in huge numbers waving flags and chanting songs to rejoice about their team’s triumph in Dubai. Many firecrackers were lit, while demonstrations on the streets also took place, with police also sprung into action for security.
The supporters danced in the middle of the streets causing some turbulence and traffic, but the celebrations were well and truly deserved following their country’s turmoil over the past few months. Sri Lanka’s economy and government has collapsed with a severe shortage of essential goods and services. The Asia Cup victory serves as a huge morale boost after the tournament was shifted out of Sri Lanka for the very same reasons.
Unlimited HAPPY 😊

Sri Lanka beaten Pakistan by 23 runs in the Asia Cup final to bag the trophy for a 6th time. It was nothing but a fairytale rise for the Lankans. With an economic crisis back home and the ashes of civil war still settling, nobody gave Dasun Shanaka a chance. But Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan scripted the downfall of Pakistan in the final.
