“There is no reason to believe that Dinesh Karthik playing over Rishabh Pant means the end of Rishabh’s chance to feature in the XI. The team management are trying out different things in every game. From a coach’s perspective, Dravid is just trying out and giving opportunities and experimenting with combinations,” he added.
The major controversy arose when Rishabh Pant was dropped from the playing XI of the Indian squad in India’s first Asia Cup 2022 match against Pakistan. Dinesh Karthik was chosen as the wicketkeeper for the game. However, in the second match against Hong Kong, both Pant and Karthik played for the Men in Blue.

As far as batting time is concerned, none of Pant and Karthik managed to get time on the crease. In the Hong Kong match both the players didn’t get a chance to bat and in the Pakistan match Karthik managed to face just a solitary delivery.
Former national coach Anshuman Gaekwad believes that there is no dispute between the two and in no way Karthik would cut short Pant’s playing time in the National team. He believes that Rahul Dravid is keen on trying out different changes and combinations in the middle order.
