IND vs PAK LIVE – Ravindra Jadeja Injury: India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has suffered yet another injury setback. He has been ruled out of ongoing Asia Cup 2022 with a knee injury. Axar flies in for Jadeja

  • Axar Patel, who has been marked as Ravindra Jadeja’s like-for-like backup, was flown in on Friday night.
  • Jadeja has gone back and the BCCI’s medical team will be monitoring his progress.
  • Jadeja has been facing issues with his right knee for a year now.
  • The team management doesn’t want to take any chances with his fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup.
  • In such a scenario, it will be interesting to see India’s combination given Rishabh Pant is the only top-order left-handed batter left in the team.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja in the ongoing Asia Cup. Ravindra Jadeja has sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament.

He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. His replacement, Axar Patel was earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad and will join the team in Dubai soon,” BCCI said in a statement.

However, Axar Patel is yet to join the team despite being named in standbys. He will join the team in Dubai today as per BCCI. Ravindra Jadeja has been a frequent victim of injuries like India vice-captain KL Rahul.

Jadeja was rested for the Zimbabwe tour and also missed the home series against South Africa due to an injury. As for Axar Patel, he will be a like-to-like replacement for Jadeja.

But considering Jadeja’s impact in India team, he is set to be a big miss. He played a crucial 35-run knock against Pakistan and has been economical with the ball too. In 6 overs he has bowled, he has picked up a wicket for just a 4.33 economy rate.

However, with T20 World Cup knocking at the door, the BCCI did not want to take any risk. Instead, he has been rested to focus on recovery. Jadeja is expected to return to India this week and continue his rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

India’s squad for Asia Cup: Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan
