In a rather controversial decision, Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka was given out despite a DRS review in the Asia Cup opener against Afghanistan. Nissaka poked at a Naveen-ul-Haq delivery and was given out much to his shock. The youngster after consultation asked for a review.
The replays suggested no contact with the bat, but the ultra edge showed a little murmur on Ultra Edge. The third umpire however ruled Nisssanka out by saying “I see a spike as the ball passes the bat. Satisfied bat involved. ” The decision left a distaste in the fans, with Sri Lankan supporters, their dressing room staff and Nissanka all crestfallen while Afghanistan celebrated.
