It is important to note that Bumrah has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to back spasms. It remains to be seen if the Gujarat man will be 100 percent fit for the T20 World Cup.

The problem for India in the Asia Cup is death bowling. Even Harshal Patel, who has developed into a fine death bowler with his variations, is also missing the continental competition.

As a result, they do not have much options for replacement at the death overs. Arshdeep seems to be an obvious choice in Bumrah and Patel absence. Bangar believes Arshdeep can deliver at the death, but Bumrah will be missed in the middle overs.

“Arshdeep is a good option who bowls good yorkers, has a lot of control and an excellent temperament to bowl in the death overs. So he (Bumrah) will not be missed that much in the death overs but the Indian team will definitely feel his absence in the middle overs, ” Bangar said in a Star Sports show.

Arshdeep might be an upcoming bowler in T20 cricket, but he lacks experience. Can Rohit and co trust him so much? It is at this juncture where Bhuvnesh Kumar comes into the scene.

Bhuvneshwar has been around international cricket for more than a decade. He is one of the smartest operators in world cricket, especially in the shorter format. Bangar believes he should be entrusted with two overs at the end, but he reiterated that Bumrah will be missed in middle overs.

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar will have to take greater responsibility and that means bowling two overs at the start and then again bowling two overs in the last four overs, which is his strength. I feel the one over where the team uses Bumrah in the middle overs, there his absence will definitely be felt.”
