Cincinnati Masters 2022: Cameron Norrie in semifinals after win over Carlos Alcaraz: The quarterfinals contest between Cameron Norrie and Carlos Alcaraz proved to be a humdinger of a contest.   • By winning the third round against Marin Cilic, Alcaraz has inched closer to his dream of becoming the World No.2 as the Spaniard is now just two wins away from surassing his idol Rafael Nadal in the ATP Rankings.
  • By reaching the quarterfinal, the 19-year old has also become the youngest ever quarterfinalist at the Cincinnati Masters.
  • He has been on a dream run this season. He began the year by reaching the third round at the Australian Open, where he faced a five-set defeat against Matteo Berrettini.
  • He then won the Rio Open title by defeating Diego Schwartzman in the final. He then reached the semifinal at Indian Wells Masters, where he was defeated by Rafael Nadal in three sets.
  • He won his second title of the year by winning the Miami Open and became the youngest player to win the ATP Masters 1000 title.
  • He then began the clay court season with a first round exit at Monte Carlo Masters, but he soon came back to form by winning the Barcelona Open.
  • He continued to make heads turn as he won the Madrid Open title and the highlight of the victory was that he defeated Novak Djokovic as well as Rafael Nadal in the same tournament.
  • He entered the French Open as one of the favourites but bowed out from the quarterfinal after losing to Alexander Zverev in four sets.
  • He then suffered fourth round exit at Wimbledon after losing to Jannik Sinner.
  • Alcaraz made it to yet another final on clay court at Hamburg Open but finished as runner-up as Lorenzo Musetti won the final.
  • He suffered his second defeat in a final at the Croatia Open as Jannik Sinner clinched a come-from-behind victory against the Spaniard.
  • He was ousted from the first round at the Canadian Masters after losing to Tommy Paul.

  • He won his maiden title this year by defeating Reilly Opelka in the final of the Delray Beach Open and then finished as runner-up at Acapulco,where he lost to Rafael Nadal in the final.
  • He finished the hard-court season this year by making it to the top 10 in World Rankings.
  • He won his second title this year at Lyon on clay court, thanks to a straight-sets win over Francisco Cerúndolo. He then made it to the third round at French Open.
  • He started the grass-court season with first round exit at Queen’s Club and then reaching the quarterfinals at Eastbourne International.
  • At Wimbledon, he delighted his home crowd by reaching the semifinal and his campaign came to an end after losing against Novak Djokovic in the last-four.
  • He then made it to another final at Las Cabos Open and finished as runner up after a straight set defeat to Daniil Medvedev in the summit clash.
  • He was ousted from the third round at Canadian Open after losing in straight sets against Cameron Norrie.

Alcaraz vs Norrie Head-to-Head: Carlos Alcaraz has won all the three previous contest against Cameron Norrie. They played twice this year at the Indian Wells Masters and Madrid Masters. While he won in straight sets at Indian Wells, he clinched victory in three sets at Marid. A similar script is expected in the upcoming contest as Alcaraz is the favourite.
