England began their preparations for the test series against South Africa with an intense practice session at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on Monday. The England squad, led by captain Ben Stokes assembled in London and trained for the first time as a group on the eve of the series. Ben Stokes, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow were all in action during the session.

The biggest positive for England however would be the availability of James Anderson who was seen running in sharply during the practice. Stuart Broad was also present and the duo are likely to play together at Lord’s against the Proteas. Head coach Brendon McCullum has also placed a lot of importance on slip catching and Joe Root and Co. were seen taking catching practice during the session.
